Masterpieces from Budapest

This past Sunday I visited the Frans Hals Museum in Haarlem to see the Netherlandish  due to a radical renovation of the Szépmüvészeti Múzeum in Budapest. The exhibition shows exceptional seventeenth-century paintings from Haarlem artists alongside well-known Dutch and Flemish painters like Hendrick Avercamp, Jan Lievens and Anthony van Dyck. The painting “A Peacock Attacking a Rooster” is from Melchior d’Hondecoeter. This artist is know for his paintings of birds. This piece of art made me think of the world today. The peacock aggressively jumps on top of the rooster. Some birds watch or are indifferent.

You can visit the exhibition “Dutch Old Masters from Budapest” until March 5th 2017 in the Frans Hals Museum.
